Appliques are a great way to express your interests, whether you’re adorning a bag or a sweater. This little add-on is great for the coffee (or tea) drinker. It is made in two pieces, but the sewing is minimal. |

Crocheting a scene is a bit tricky but I’ve managed to overcome the difficulties of this by using what I call the Backwards Single Crochet. It’s a more attractive alternative to the Reverse Single Crochet, also known as the Crab stitch, and provides you with the ability to keep the “right side” of stitches always on the front. I chose Bernat’s Handicrafter Cotton and I really like the natural look the fiber of the yarn gives to the project and the scene. This pattern uses a series of single crochet and backwards single crochet stitches with a bunch of colors changes. |

I was at my aunt and uncle’s house for the holidays and my aunt brought out little scraves to tie around our wineglasses. They were adorable. Each scarf was a different design, so it was a great way to keep track of your glass. I decided that I wanted some scarfs for my own, so I came up with this super quick and easy design and pattern. I can’t wait to use them at my next get together with my friends. I am sure that they will be a huge hit. Make a bunch in different colors to help you and your guests keep track of your glasses in a fun and cute way. They would also make a great gift. Best part, they are another great way to use up your yarn stash. Enjoy!

Since I’m really into crochet, I consume a lot of media about crochet. You’d be surprised; if you keep your eyes open for crochet, you’ll see it popping up everywhere! While reading or listening to interviews with crochet designers, there is one theme I see popping up over and over again.
“My mother/grandmother/babysitter taught me to crochet when I was a kid. (She probably wanted to keep me busy/quiet/out of her hair.) All I knew how to do was make chains, but I would do that for hours and hours.”
Seriously, I’ve heard this theme (with variations) touched upon multiple times by people who as adults are avid crocheters and crochet designers!
The way I see it, we need more of these people in the world! What a wonderful way to get a child started on a craft that will serve them for their entire lives. What’s more, we all could benefit from the future designs of this crocheting child! Are you with me?

Valentine’s Day is almost here! And it just so happens to be one of my favorite holidays. Here’s a pattern you can make to celebrate the holiday that is simple and gives a new twist to square motifs. Starting with a circle, you build out in 3 easy rows for a cute and curved square. Add the quaint heart included in the pattern or any other little appliqué. It’s quick to make, which is just perfect for making more than one. Experiment with colors and tell me how it turns out for you! |

Put your coffee or tea in its Sunday best with a pretty embellished dress. Pretty faux pearls and a ribbon are lovely additions to the dress, but of course, you can embellish it as you please and make it your own. The dress cozy slips easily over a three inch diameter mug with a little room to spare. Smaller or much larger mugs are easily accommodated with simple adjustments. Just add or subtract rows or stitches and try it on your mug as you work. |

Crochet Spot fans, we can talk honestly, can’t we? I’ll get straight to the point. I’ve got a LOT of crochet. Why? Because (like you) I love to crochet! Sometimes I crochet something I don’t even WANT to keep because I just want to try the pattern.
Sometimes I crochet the same thing over and over again because I like the pattern and maybe want to change it up a little. I wonder what it would look like in one yarn or another. I may add stripes or a border. Then, before I know it, I have a dozen of something and I don’t know what to do with them. (Hello, Rachel’s Credit Card Holder!)

Part #2 of the Mystery Crochet Along (CAL) is now posted!!! You can find the pattern added to the end of the original CAL post here: Mystery Crochet Along: A Gift for V-Day
This part is fairly short. You’ll be crocheting 5 of these objects. It is a flat mystery shape that is crocheted in the round. It uses the adjustable ring because there are so many stitches being made into the one stitch. For beginners who haven’t used the ring before, here’s a link to the tutorial: How to Crochet: The Magic Adjustable Ring Don’t forget to pull the ring tightly closed when you are done! If you find the ring isn’t tight enough for you, you can also use the double ring.

If you missed Part #1, no worries! You can still view the pattern on the CAL page and join in on the fun.
Have fun crocheting and don’t forget to share your pics 🙂

In Tunisian crochet, there are three types of increases: ones made at the beginning or a row, ones made in the middle of a row, and ones made at the end of a row. This tutorial will show you how to increase in the middle of a row. Since what you do in the next row is what determines how your stitches look, this increase will work for any Tunisian stitch.
Left-handed crocheters can mouse over the photos for another view.
First work up to the place where you would like to increase. Here is a picture of the space where you will insert your hook. It is underneath the horizontal bar that runs between the vertical bars.
