Suggest Crochet Patterns for Spring

By Rachel Choi – 18 Comments
I’m so glad that spring time is here!!! It’s been a rough winter with the record breaking snow storms of 2010. If you live in the northeastern part of the U.S. you know what I’m talking about. Now it’s time for the spring flowers, warm weather, and warm weather crocheting. I hate it when people say crocheting is only for the winter. Heck, I crochet all year around and I hope you do too! spring flowers

Do you think the change in weather changes the crochet projects you work on?
What are some things you would like to crochet during the spring?
I’m really interested to find out what kind of patterns you’re looking for and to get started on designing them!

A lacy spring scarf or a shawl with tie ends. Anything I can add to a casual outfit to make it a little special. 🙂

Yes I do think the weather influences what I’m crocheting. I’ve worked on afghans in the summer and it’s not too fun. I start thinking and working on table wear(placemats, edgings on napkins), kitchen stuff, and lacy summery wraps and shrugs, and also doilies.

I crochet all year also. I like to crochet dishcloths and coasters and baby blankets. Will probably continue to do so even in summer.

I like to make cute stuffed animals!!!!!! and purses, jewlery, hair accessories, swim suits (with liners of course!) and hats (not beanies, but cute berets and hats that provide shade!)

I crochet year ’round but lighter things in the Summer such as amigurumi, coasters, dishcloths, shrugs, would love some cute little toddler sunsuit patterns or little toddler dresses, hats, purses. etc.

I crochet year round; even afghans when temps are in the 100’s! A card table with a fan under it is wonderful when I need to make those lap-robes for charity. For Spring, shawls and baby items are the things I like to make.

Yes spring changes the projects I want to work on! I’m currently finishing a baby blanket for my old college roommate’s baby shower at the end of April. After that I want to make one or two “market bags” that I’ve found patterns for so that I can shop at farmers’ markets this year. They come in all shapes and sizes. I’m trying to find some that aren’t too “hole-y”/lacy (I feel like those would hang down to my knees when full with fruits and veggies). I also like ones that are wider than they are long (so the produce at the bottom doesn’t get smooshed). There are a lot to choose from out there, so there should be one to suit just about everyone’s preference!

I don’t want to do heavy blankets or use dark colors in the spring. I, too, like baby items and granny squares in pretty colors! My dish cloths are getting pretty tired, too. Best start on those.

I’ve already been busy. I did a free caron yarn pattern — Oasis Wrap– but I did it with thread and made it a table runner. I used Hilaza Rustica by Omega in Lila (lavendar), Amarillo (yellow) and Verde (lite green). Can’t wait to get to some more doilies with the rest of the thread.

Oh Yeah! It’s got “sparkelies” running thru it, so it really looks neat.

The only thing that I won’t crochet in spring and summer is afghans. I just don’t want the heavy warm things laying on my lap.

would love to make a broomstick stitch hat! i know how to do the stitch but have no idea how to turn it into a hat, i live up in the swiss mountains so a spring hat (cap) is absolutely essential after the sun goes down!

I have been busy making creme egg cosies for Easter…. next is a bag decorated with cherry blossoms (I have just moved to DC and looking forward to my first Cherry Blossom Festival :D) Also, thinking of sun hats.

I crochet all year round too, I think most dedicated “hookers” do! How about some Spring accessories, hair stuff, jewelry, beach bag, casual shawl and lightweight afghan for cool nights in the AC, OUTDOOR table wear, maybe a rug for the deck, again, some nice accessories to spruce up the deck!!

    Thanks Rachel, you ROCK <3

I love crocheting anything all year around! I have a challenge pattern. Something with volleyball involved as I have never seen any pattern for anything related to this sport. I need something like this for many friends of mine (these friends are mostly atheletic teens ages 14+). Think you can help?
