Crochet Pattern: Sandwich Cookies

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on November 26th, 2011 by Emilee Gettle – 11 Comments
When I was a child I remember one afternoon, while I was taking my nap, my mom crocheted some play food for me. When I awoke there by my pillow was some sweet handmade goodies! Now it’s my turn, and as soon as my little girl awakes from her nap she’ll have these little cookies waiting for her. They are so easy to make and a lot of fun. You can whip up a batch in no time! Make a baker’s dozen and give in a small tin to a little one in your life. Don’t forget to take some for children on your baked good delivery route this holiday season!

Crochet Pattern: Turkey Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on November 18th, 2011 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
It’s hard to believe the holidays are knocking on our door! I love Thanksgiving! It is one of the only days of the year when I get to see most all of my family. I love recalling childhood days and sharing those memories with those dear to my heart. This week my crochet project is a turkey applique in honor of Turkey Day! This little applique can be used in many ways for clothes, kitchen or dining room linens, cards or even as a pin to wear. I used a finer crochet thread for the feathers and a bit chunkier fingering yarn for the body to add definition.

Crochet Pattern: Amish Nine Patch Potholder

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on November 9th, 2011 by Emilee Gettle – 9 Comments
When I was young I knew an Amish lady who became a dear friend of mine. I loved visiting her small mercantile that was filled with every kind of calico and solid colored fabric imaginable. Amish ladies in the community made crafts to sell in her store to earn a little extra spending money. I love the simple color combinations of Amish crafts and created this potholder along the lines of what Lizzie might be selling in her store today. Since it is super thick it will guard against hot pots and pans perfectly. This project would also make a cute little pillow!

Crochet Pattern: Goldfish Washcloth

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on October 25th, 2011 by Emilee Gettle – 12 Comments
I have a toddler in the house and that means that bath time is synonymous with play time! So I made this little goldfish for her to swim away with. I used old fashion cotton worsted weight yarn for super absorbency. Plus, it will lather up perfectly with her favorite bubble bath. This pattern could easily be adjusted to be a soap saver too! New baby on the way? Are you looking for a shower gift? These little fish are so fast to make, why not whip up a couple and give with a set of bath towels. The new mom will appreciate their playful usefulness!

Crochet Pattern: Chic and Simple Neck Warmer

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on October 11th, 2011 by Emilee Gettle – 10 Comments
I love to go for walks on fall evenings. Since the temperature has been dropping briskly, I like to have a little something around my neck to keep me toasty. I hate to pull out the full fledge scarf this time of year, so I decided a neck warmer would do just the trick. This project is so simple! Depending on the type of yarn you use, it can look dressy for a night out or it can be quite practical while you’re getting down and dirty winterizing. Not only do I love this pattern, but it even looks cute on my 3 year old daughter!

Jumpstart a Crocheted Christmas

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns, Tutorials and Help on September 4th, 2010 by Emilee Gettle – 3 Comments

During the holidays I love to give handmade gifts. I think it adds a sentiment that our society as a whole has devalued in the past. Something from the store new and shiny definitely has appeal. Whatever that item might be, it will grow old in time and it will need to be replaced. However, the afghan from Grandma is priceless and is still in use years later! Something handmade is like a hug from a loved one. You can put your heart and soul into this gift. Hand crocheted presents can boast something that no other store bought gift can and that is love… straight from the heart! read more »
