The New Trend in Round Baby Afghans

I have to admit, when I first saw a pattern for a round baby blanket, I thought to myself, WHY??? A round baby blanket?? That is different. Well, I was right!!! They are different, and in an awesome way!!!

Round baby afghans are the perfect size and style to cover a car seat or an infant carrier. They are also easier for the baby to snuggle with. As an added treat, they are amazing for taking baby photos. The round afghan drapes under the baby in a perfect shape to compliment the picture.

They are easy to make and so much fun to work on. Round blankets are typically based on a few basic stitches and after placing a marker to designate the beginning of your rounds, you can just relax and crochet away!! When I finally get a chance to sit down and have some “me” time and work on my crocheting, it is nice to have a project that is fun to do, easy to enjoy, but looks amazing when the finished product is completed.

I have sold two of these round afghans for baby shower gifts and the reaction from the mom-to-be has been delightful! Both moms have told the person who gave them the blanket that this gift will be going into the “hope chest” to keep forever.

I really like your blankets, especially the baseballs!! It would be cute having it as a giant baseball too. It’s hard to come by cute boy afghans these days.

I just made a round ripple afghan . It was quick and easy. Two hints: always count your stitches for each segment to make sure you haven’t added or skipped stitches. I had to undo several rows because of simple mistakes. But it was fun to crochet. Also check your gauge as you go along to make sure your work doesn’t pucker.

This article inspired me to make a round baby rug, which I have posted on my blog. I didn’t follow the pattern, which is probably why my rug has 13 segments! Thanks for the inspiration <3 <3
