Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on December 13th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – 4 Comments

Crochet this quick trivet to place your hot pots and plates on. The trivet is crocheted with 2 strands of yarn held together to create a thick and sturdy fabric, perfect for shielding your table. Pick 2 strands of different colored yarn for a more colorful look. Choose 100% cotton or wool yarn, which work well with heat compared to other materials such as acrylic. For extra protection you can even crochet 2 trivets and sew them together.

Free Crochet Pattern: Ridged Coffee Cup Sleeve

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on December 6th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – 2 Comments

This coffee cup sleeve is quick and easy to crochet, perfect for beginners. It is made with one of my favorite patterns to create ribbing, single crocheting in the back loops only. The technique creates a stretchy fabric that is easy to slip on coffee cups of different sizes. Included within the pattern are instructions to adjust the size if you need the sleeve to be wider, narrower, longer, or shorter. Crochet a bunch in different colors for yourself or give them away as gifts! Get creative and personalize the sleeve with appliques.

Frozen Plaid Dishcloth | Crochet Spot

Have you noticed that crocheting plaid is becoming very popular? I have to admit, the color changes have always appeared daunting to me. However, I am not one to shy away from a challenge, and it’s a good thing, because I found out how simple it really is.

Once you have a good idea of the color pattern and easy method in color changing, you will be able to breeze right through this project.

Simple plaids, or gingham plaids, are worked in three different colors — a dark, mid, and light color. You will use the mid in each row, and alternate between the dark and the light in every other row.

From there you just double crochet! Prepare to impress with this complicated looking, but easy to do Frozen Plaid Dishcloth!

Crochet Pattern: Alphabet’s End Scarf

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on October 31st, 2017 by Candace – 1 Comment

When I bought a skein of deliciously soft fall-themed yarn, I knew I had to use it–even if it was still feeling more like summer than autumn. With that in mind, I decided to go for something open and airy that I could later bunch up for warmth when the weather turns. So I decided to turn to letters that come in toward the end of the alphabet– Y, X, and V–to create a pattern that fit my needs. The pattern is easily changed if you like a wider or longer scarf.

Crochet Pattern: Chunky Basketweave Earwarmers

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on October 25th, 2017 by Amy Yarbrough – Be the first to comment

In the winter, chunky and bulky yarns are my favorite to crochet with. I love the feel of the material as I crochet as well as how they wear or look when finished.

Another thing I find indispensable in the winter are earwarmers. My ears always freeze, so if I am not already wearing a hat, I must have earwarmers with me at all times. This pair of earwarmers is the perfect choice with it’s chunky yarn, basketweave stitch, and wooden buttons.

Make the earwarmers in four rows of basketweave material and then single crochet around for a finished piece. Buttons add just the right touch, and you don’t have to worry about buttonholes because the fabric creates them naturally.

Here’s to warm ears this coming winter!

This coffee cup sleeve is crocheted seamlessly in the round, like a spiral. It is shaped using 3 different crochet hook sizes to give it a gradual taper. Made with primarily single crochet stitches, this pattern is great for beginners and helps demonstrate the use of tension to create shaping. After the coffee cup sleeve is crocheted, attach a bow made with the candy corn bow pattern for a Halloween theme.

Add a touch of cuteness to a baby or child’s room with a set of these little elephant curtain tie backs. The elephant is crocheted amigurumi style, then attached to a classic curtain tie back. If you don’t have hooks in the wall to attach the tie back to, feel free to make the tie back longer and simply tie it around the curtain instead.
