|If you like to eat cupcakes, why not crochet one (or several)? Use this cupcake applique pattern to embellish items as you desire. Sew it to your purse, scarf, blanket, or even use it as a pin or a fridgie (refrigerator magnet). Have fun crocheting this simple cupcake applique!
Finished Size: 2″ (5 cm) wide, 2 3/4″ (7 cm) tall with cherry
Gauge: not that important for this pattern. Adjust hook size as you see fit.
Crochet Pattern: Cupcake Applique
Row 1: with light brown, ch 7, working in back ridge only, sc in each ch across: 6 sc
Row 2 – 7: ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across: 6 sc
Note: rows 1 – 7 creates a ridge texture. The next row will be worked on the side of rows 1 – 7 to make the top of the cupcake. For right handed crocheters, turn your work 90 degrees counter clockwise to work along the side of rows 1 – 7. For left handed crocheters, turn your work 90 degrees clockwise to work along the side of rows 1 – 7.
Row 8: change to pink, 7 sc evenly across side of rows 1 – 7 (approximately 1 sc for each row): 7 sc
Row 9: ch 1, turn, working in both loops, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in last sc: 9 sc
Row 10: ch 1, turn, sl st in next sc, sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, dc in next 3 sc, hdc in next sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next sc, finish off: 9 sts
Round 1: with red, ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook, finish off: 6 sc
Sew cherry to top of cupcake with a yarn needle.
