Previously, I shared with you my collection of nautical themed coasters. This week I would like to introduce my latest collection of coasters, the Beach Life set. It is comprised of a sea star, sea urchin, scallop, and clam. I write on marine science when I am not crocheting, so forgive me if I get a little geeky with the details. Each one is a quick project that I guarantee will be a lot of fun! |

Years ago I visited a home where the living room was decorated with a nautical theme. Being a nautical enthusiast and self-proclaimed maritime expert, I would do the same to my own room given half the chance. Coasters are necessities for protecting furniture from the inevitable danger posed by cups of liquids. Here are four nautical themed patterns for coasters. A ship’s wheel, coiled rope, a compass, and a sail, all quick to make and the best of fun. I’d love to know what you think! |

Are you one of those people that have always loved the pioneer lifestyle – bonnets, stretches of prairie, covered wagons, cooking over a campfire, and sleeping under the stars? Maybe you’re not. Maybe the pioneer life sounds hard, dusty and just plain exhausting. You’d probably be right but who can deny the adventurer inside? Braving the unknown, starting anew, living off the land. It’s fun to think about any way. But there doesn’t have to be any “braving the unknown†with this doll’s bonnet. It’s easy and works up quickly. Add it to the rest of the crocheted doll clothing repertoire! |

Designing a new baby blanket is a lot of fun. I like to customize them specifically for the little one that is going to receive it. I created this one with my little niece in mind — bright colors to catch her eye, soft to the touch but with lots of texture. Normally, I design them in neutral colors in case the mother would like to use it for multiple children, or if the parents do not yet know the gender of the child. Whichever you choose to do, I hope you enjoy making this blanket. I can guarantee the recipient of yours will be just as pleased as my niece will be with the one I made! |

Do you remember those lovely, untouchable dolls? The ones with the tight curls, powdered cheeks, bright eyes, and old-fashioned wardrobe? I received my very own porcelain doll as a gift one year and on occasion I couldn’t resist taking her out to straighten her hair or dress. What attracted me most to these delicate dolls was their old-fashioned outfits made of satin and lace frills. This dolls apron brings back the old days where an apron was a must for cooking and cleaning of any kind. Made with light weight yarn and using simple crochet techniques, you can work this apron up in a jiffy. |

Here is a crochet pattern requested by a Crochet Spot reader! Why should crocheting for the kitchen stop with towels and wash rags? Customize your soap bottles too! This dish soap apron is rather simple and easy to make. I used a cotton yarn, which is always a good idea for the kitchen, and began with some simple designs. If your favorite kitchen soap happens to be a little shorter than this one, simply leave off a few rows at the beginning. I hope you enjoy it! |

Sometimes the most enjoyable things to make are the ones that only take a few minutes. Then again, it might be simply because they are often small projects. After crocheting an extensive pattern it’s helpful to come back to the little things. It’s refreshing and re-inspiring! This doll basket can easily be paired with any outfit, but I suggest would make a good addition to the Doll Peasant Dress just recently posted. It only takes a minute to make using basic crochet techniques. I hope you like it as much as I do! |
