Crochet Pattern: 4-Point Felted Square Coaster

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on August 16th, 2016 by Candace – Be the first to comment
I’ve been working on a big project and, at the end of a ball of yarn and needing a break, I decided to try my hand at felting again. This time I added bobbles to see how they’d show up in the finished product. The result is a project you can easily find time to work on and get some hands-on felting experience with (and wool coasters that you can run through the washer and dryer). crochet_four_point_felt_coaster

Crochet Pattern: Pineapple Applique

Have you noticed how popular pineapples have been lately? Artistic renderings of pineapples are adorning all kinds of things from clothing to accessories to school supplies! This crocheted pineapple applique was inspired by a cartoon image I found online. I like how this one is a little unsymmetrical. For some reason that appeals to me. It would be fun to crochet this in different colors to decorate a tote bag, t-shirt, pencil case, or even a book cover. Just use strong glue to attach them.

Let’s kick off Christmas in July with a festive bracelet! This bracelet is super quick to crochet and uses a very small amount of yarn. Choose your favorite colored yarn (doesn’t have to be Christmas related) and a bunch of bells to make this noisy bracelet. The length of the bracelet can easily be adjusted if needed.
If you’ve crocheted with beads in the past, this pattern will be a breeze to crochet. If this is your first time crocheting with beads, please check out the How to Crochet: Chain with Bead tutorial before working this pattern. The bells are used in the same manner as beads.

Crochet Pattern: Little Lacy Star

In the hands of a crocheter, a circle or ring can grow into a lot of different shapes. This pattern uses basic shaping done around a ring to make a neat little star. You can wear it as jewelry (make 2 for earrings), string together a bunch for a fun belt, or use it as a lightweight but eye-catching keychain. Me? I’m keeping mine for my bookmark collection. crochet_little_lacy_star

Crochet Pattern: Mason Jar Wristlet

I use mason jars for nearly all of my beverages. I like using glass instead of plastic, and mason jars carry a certain charm. I have been toting cool water everywhere in a crocheted pouch, now my coffee and tea have been getting jealous. Therefore I’ve designed this cozy for the 24-oz wide-mouthed mason jar in which I carry my coffee each morning. If you’ve seen my other patterns, you are already familiar with my mason jar! image

Crochet Pattern: Half Hoop Earrings

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on July 9th, 2016 by Candace – 2 Comments
Sure a hoop earring with dangling beads or charms in the middle are cool, but what if you want something a little more? The hoops usually don’t come with a way to open them, so stringing beads is out. However, you can crochet around the hoops and make your handmade earrings even more unique. These earrings can be made with hoops of different shapes and sizes–they’ll just have a different look. crochet_half_hoop_earrings

Felting is one method you can use to give your crochet projects a whole new look. One benefit of it? Once it’s good and felted, you don’t have to worry about it shrinking and getting ruined in the wash. Give felting a try by making this easy felted decorative bowl.

Remember that to make a project felt, you have to use the right yarn. Break out your natural animal fibers for this one.
