Crochet Pattern: Enchanting Phone Cover

By Amy Yarbrough – 22 Comments
After many different tries I am finally proud to present my very first phone cover! The 1st try worked but I found that I had neglected to take into account the camera, USB outlet, and earphone jack. The 2nd try was better but it covered the touch-sensitive buttons at the bottom. This latest one has it all. Try it out and tell me what you think! Enchanting Phone Cover

Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! I have been wanting to make a cover for my mom’s phone, but was not sure how to go about it. I’m definitely making this soon. 🙂

Oh, this is just adorable! I’ve seen plenty of case “covers”, but this is the first actual cover I’ve seen crocheted! Would I be able to adapt it for an iPhone?

    • Hi Miya! I’m glad you like my pattern.

To adjust the demensions of the pattern for an iPhone you would have to leave out a few rows in the beginning and account for the difference in the camera position. Play with it a bit and I’m sure it will work out.

There is a way to crochet a granny rectangle by beginning with a chain at the center and crocheting around just like in a square granny. Missing will be the traditional circle with 4 corners in the middle. If I can find the pattern I will get it to Rachel. There is also a scarf pattern using the same pattern. I have made both and they easy to make.

hi! I’m so sorry, I hate asking questions on people’s pattern posts, but I can’t help it sometimes, and I know the answer is going to be so obvious. in row one, you chain 4. ending with I think it’s 24 st.s.. ( I’m on my phone n is too hard to scroll back up! Lol) but then in row two, the pattern doesn’t take that chain sp. into consideration, and you still end up with a 2 st. increase. Are they in that ch. sp? And should you chain anymore in the following rows? thank you so much for this pattern! we must have the exact same phone because the measurements match my phone exactly!

    • Hi Michelle,

Don’t worry at all, there’s no problem with asking questions. Sometimes the answer is obvious, and sometimes we just need another person’s opinion to give us a different perspective.

In row 2 the instructions are to chain 3 and then single crochet across. You simply crochet across the four chains from row 1 as if they were any other stitch. The 2 chain increase is at the beginning when you chain 3. Single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook, not the 2nd single crochet on the row, and then sc across.

Can you do this for a iPod touch 5 and if
you can may you please send the pattern
with adjustments for the iPod touch 5.

    • Hi Sarah,

The dimensions for the iPod Touch 5 are only slightly larger than the Samsung Galaxy but the pattern is made to stretch. I would suggest trying the pattern anyway; it should work. But if it seems a little tight tell me and I’ll see what I can do.

Wonderful pattern. I’ve looking for one like this for awhile. Gave up on finding one and I just happened to find yours looking for something else. I made mine and finished yesterday. Came out great. Thank you for sharing!

  8. Gloria cartrette says:

How would you adjust this pattern if using worsted weight yn, or would worsted weight work. Awesome pattern I think. Thanks

    • Amy says:

      Hello Gloria,
Using worsted weight yarn would change the gauge of the pattern immensely. It is not something I can merely advise you on, I am afraid. But if you want to give it a go yourself then I wish you the best!

      Happy Crocheting,

  9. Britnee says:

Hello. Thank you for this pattern. Not only has it been difficult to find a fitted phone case that showed the screen but especially with the camera hole. I’m actually making this for a Microsoft Lumia 640XL. I just decided to make it and see how the fitting goes. It must be similar to your phone because the holes and plugs have worked so far. I’m also using worsted yarn with a G hook. I do have a question though. Should I do the border before the box form? Also, in making the box form how is it being sewed? I guess I don’t understand the folded in to meet each other part. Will doing the border first eliminate the need to sew into a box form since it has the sc2tog? Thanks for any help.

    • Amy says:

      Hi Britnee,
I’m so glad you like my pattern!
To create the box form you merely fold in sides like you might to create a cardboard box and use a simple whipstitch to secure them along the sides, as it says in the last part of the instructions of the second half, right before the border. Once you get the box form then you work the border on top of the “box”, so to speak. The sc2tog in the border instructions insures the case will stay on the phone; it will not create the box form.

Let me know if this helps!

Which Samsung Galaxy is this specific pattern made for?
I’m going to look up the dimensions to fit it to my Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. It looks very similar. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active’s dimensions are 148.8 x 74.9 x 9.9 mm.

    • Amy says:

      Hello Chelsea Mae,
I believe the phone for the pattern was a Galaxy S4 with the dimensions of 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm. I think yours might be a bit larger. But the idea should still work if you adjusted the size a bit. It might take a few tries. Let me know if I can help!
