Crochet Pattern: Lacy Hair Scrunchie

By Emilee Gettle – 8 Comments
Over the summer I have been in New York City, Chicago and San Francisco. While on business and vacationing I’ve had the opportunity to window shop and browse a variety of stores. I love adapting my wardrobe to the latest style without paying big bucks. As of late, I’ve been seeing a lot of lace and some really cute, feminine hair accessories popping up everywhere! So, I whipped up this super simple hair scrunchie. This is the perfect project for using up leftover bits of yarn. Don’t forget to make some for the little girls in your life! They make great gifts too.

Materials:
Fine Weight / Baby Yarn – small amount
Crochet Hook F (3.75 mm)

Crochet Pattern: Lacy Hair Scrunchie
Round 1: Start off by using the hair elastic as your “ring”. 1 sc into the elastic, (ch 8, 1 sc into elastic) 55 times or until the elastic is covered.

The amount of repeats depend upon the size of your hair elastic, especially if it is for small girls. The single crochet stitches should lay flat and not be bunched one upon the other.

Finishing
Sl st into first sc. Finish off and weave in loose ends.

I’ve made a ton of yarn scrunchies — unfortunately, I got the pattern out of a magazine (in about ’96) and I’m sure it’s under copyright. It has thre row, so sometimes, I will make it in 2 colors for my favorite teams — go Packers, Brewers, and Badgers!

Thanks for the scrunchie patterns and ideas. I love to make items for my favorite teams, too (Mt Lebanon High School, William and Mary, Ohio State, and the Pittsburgh pro teams (Pirates, Steelers, Penquins). Great for fundraisers when you use just the team colors or colors similar to the “official colors.”

Hi I made a bunch of these about a month ago. Learned from watching a video tutorial on youtube. I love that the smallest ball of yarn can make a beautiful scrunchie. I’ve been making loads to send out of state this week to my two granddaughters. I’ll post pics on my blog when I finish them; also making hats and scarves to send.

Hi, I tried your pattern last year and have given them as gifts to my friends. Nice, simple, easy-to-understand pattern. Featured the finished product in my site. http://gardenchefsneedleandpen.blogspot.com/2012/11/lacy-hair-scrunchies.html
