With summer comes pleasant thoughts of the beach — sandy shores, waves lapping against the shore. I wanted to emulate that feeling with this tablet cover by using stripes of aqua, tan, and cream.

The first few rows are worked in single crochet before beginning a textured pattern of single crochet and double crochet. It is a very easy pattern and works up quickly! Add a bamboo toggle with natural cord for just the right beachside touch.

Skill Level:

Finished Size: Fits tablet dimensions of 6 3/4” (17 cm) by 9” (22.5 cm)

Materials:
Medium weight yarn (approximately 30 yards each of colors A, B, and C)
Crochet hook G (4.50 mm)
Yarn needle
Toggle button
6” of cord
crochet yarn size 4

Gauge:
4 sc = 1’’
4 rows = 1’’
Gauge Swatch: 1’’w x 1’’h (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm) ch 5.
Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across: 4 sc
Row 2 – 4: ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across: 4 sc
Finish off.

Color pattern:
6 rows of color A
6 rows of color B
6 rows of color C
repeat pattern, ending with 5 rows of color C

Note: The pattern is worked in a spiral. Use stitch markers to keep track of the beginning of each round.

Attempting the beach rock tablet cover. I am usually pretty good at following directions but how does 28 chains convert to 58 sc. I understand in the round but the initial 28 chains doesn’t make it wide enough for a tablet. Thanks for any clarification.

      Hello Marian,
I recounted and realized it should be 56 sts in each round. I have made the proper corrections to the pattern. Sorry for the trouble!
