Increasing Blocks in Filet Crochet

By Candace – 2 Comments

One manner of increasing and decreasing in filet crochet is be adding and subtraction blocks and the beginning or end of a row. It creates a step-like effect.

To increase at the beginning of a row, chain the appropriate number of stitches at the end of the previous row, make your starting chain, and then work into the chains you have added and the rest of the stitches across the row.

Solid mesh increase with dcs worked into the chain.

This open mesh increase is formed by chain stitches on 3 of its sides.

To add a solid mesh at the end of a row, use foundation stitches to add the necessary number of stitches.

To add an open mesh at the end of a row (in a mesh made of dc), chain the necessary number of stitches to make the chain part of the mesh then make a trtr in the last dc of the previous row. The trtr makes the base and a side of your new mesh.
