| When I was young I knew an Amish lady who became a dear friend of mine. I loved visiting her small mercantile that was filled with every kind of calico and solid colored fabric imaginable. Amish ladies in the community made crafts to sell in her store to earn a little extra spending money. I love the simple color combinations of Amish crafts and created this potholder along the lines of what Lizzie might be selling in her store today. Since it is super thick it will guard against hot pots and pans perfectly. This project would also make a cute little pillow! |  |
Have you ever worked on a spiral scarf and suddenly realized that your 50 stitches has bloomed to 400 and felt like the row would never end? It can be tiring to plod along the row, especially if the scarf has a plain stitch. If you work backwards and start with a long chain whose stitches disappear by half each row, it can feel like you’re going faster even though in the end, you have the same number of stitches.

| I love visiting orchards this time of year and buying apples by the peck or the bushel. Growing up I have fond memories of making apple butter with my grandma in a giant copper kettle over and open fire. The woodsmoke and sweet apple scent filled the air. After cooking down for hours we canned the yummy treat to preserve for the chilly days of winter. This week, I created this applique which can be used hundreds of ways. It would look darling on kitchen towels! As a gift, I plan to sew this on a onesie and embroider, “Apple of My Eye” for a sweet little girl I know. |  |
My Husband is a gym junkie and a typical male. About 3 weeks ago he came home on a Friday (gym day) and said he was sore around the shoulders, not the ‘good’ sore from a good workout, it was actual pain. He goes to the gym 3 times a week. I suggested he have a bit of a break, but he’s male so that didn’t make any sense to him. He then came home the following Monday really sore and by bedtime he was definitely in REAL pain. He popped a large amount of pain killers and acknowledged that maybe he wouldn’t go to the gym Wednesday – I gave up. No sleep that night. By morning he was crippled with pain on the right side back/shoulder and upper arm. His lower arm and hand were numb. Doctors / physio’s / serious pain medication and pending specialist he is still hurting and has numb fingers and arm. It’s been 12 days now.

| Sometimes it’s hard to get to sleep with all the distracting sources of light out there. If your neighbor has outside lights or someone in your house needs a light on, it can be hard to block out. A sleep mask helps you get to sleep without inconveniencing anybody else by blocking the light where you need it most–around your eyes.
