Inspired by my recent trip to Ireland, here is a sheep to crochet! Cute, little, and fluffy, crochet it for yourself, as a toy for a child, or crochet several and make it into a baby mobile. The body of the sheep is crocheted in one piece, then the ears, tail and legs are sewn on. Check out the loop stitch tutorial if you don’t already know this fun, textured stitch.

Have you ever heard of the phrase “Christmas in July”? I’m not quite sure of the origin, perhaps it’s a longing for the chill of winter in the heat of summer, or a marketing technique to increases Christmas related sales in July. Crochet in Ireland at the Blarney Castle

Posted in Fun Ramblings on July 17th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – 8 Comments

You may have noticed the blog was quiet the past week. That’s because I was in Ireland taking in the sights and scenery. The family trip was fantastic as the locals were all so friendly and we got to see lots of tourist attractions, small cities, and even the beautiful national parks and scenery. One place that really stood out on my week’s adventure was my visit to the Blarney Castle. Not necessarily because of the historical significance, but because of the crochet and knit art that was there!

I’ve witnessed lots of crochet art via the web, but honestly never in person until the day I visited the Blarney Castle. The trees lining the walkway to the castle were all covered in crochet and knit.

Free Crochet Pattern: Circle Wire Earrings

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on July 7th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – 5 Comments

Have you tried crocheting with wire yet? Here’s the perfect pattern for your first wire project! The pattern is a simple circle, made in two rounds. While the pattern is super easy, the tricky part is getting the feel for crocheting with wire. You will make all the stitches the same way you would if you were to crochet with regular yarn or thread. But the stiffness of the wire will give your hands a workout. The large crochet hook will help you crochet with the wire more easily and help to create a lacy look. Once you get the hang of crocheting with wire, try adding beads to your earrings too!
