Before starting your beaded crochet project, you’ll have to string your beads onto the yarn or thread. If you’re lucky, the beads will string on with no problem. However, many beads have small holes that are intended for jewelry wire, not crochet thread or yarn. In this post, I’ll discuss some tips and tricks to string your beads on. Sometimes the trick is really simple and quick, other times it can take a bit more work to get those stubborn beads on.

Crochet Pattern: Chevron Pillow Covers

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on May 15th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – 2 Comments

Add a pop of color to your pillows with a classic chevron pattern. Following the instructions within this pattern, you can create a pillow cover for any sized square or rectangle pillow. Unlike other chevron patterns, this pattern is solid and is crocheted with sharp peaks and valleys to ensure a bold stitch. The pillow cover can either be sewn to be permanently on the pillow or removable so that you can toss it in the wash when needed.

Do you have a water-loving child? Crochet him or her this cute baby whale lovey to snuggle up with. The whale is crocheted seamlessly in the round, amigurumi style. The small blanket is crocheted with a variety of stitches to create a wavy ocean look. The whale is then attached to the blanket to create an adorable lovey that’s ready to be toted around and snuggled with. This security blanket is designed with light weight yarn so that it’s not too heavy for a baby, but feel free to crochet it in medium weight yarn if you want a larger lovey. crochet baby whale lovey

How to Embroider Eyes onto Crochet

Posted in Tutorials and Help on April 29th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – 7 Comments

So, you’ve crocheted a cute animal or doll and now you’re ready to add its face. In this tutorial I’ll show you how I embroider eyes with yarn. Of course, there are other methods for adding eyes, but this method is one of my favorites, because you can use scraps of yarn you already have. Here I’ll show the technique being done on a little lion that’s a part of the Little Safari Animals set. You can use this technique on any knit or crocheted doll, animal, or amigurumi.
