Crochet Pattern: Lilac Trellis Mandala

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on March 20th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

This crochet pattern was requested by several Crochet Spot readers and even named by one. The Lilac Trellis Mandala would make a beautiful addition to your home decor this spring. Crochet it with light weight yarn as recommended in the pattern to create a doily sized mandala that can be used as a trivet or hot pad. If crocheted with medium/worsted weight yarn, it will turn out even larger, about the size of a placemat. Use thinner yarns to create smaller mandalas if you wish. Feel free to crochet the mandala with 3 or more of your favorite colors to give it a different and unique look. The pattern is not recommended for beginners as it will require frequent color changes, and unique stitchery to create the colorful and intricate look.

Crochet Pattern: Lacy Top Cosmetic Bag

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on March 13th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – 5 Comments

Looking for a cute pouch to hold your makeup? Crochet this bag to store all of your cosmetic goodies or use it as a regular clutch style purse. This bag is designed with a rounded, wide bottom so that it can stand up on its own, but is also flexible enough to lay flat. The stitch pattern is solid with minimal holes between stitches so that small items will not fall out. It is crocheted seamlessly in the round, like a spiral, from the bottom up. No sewing is required, other than the single button. Crochet the body of the bag in a solid color and choose your favorite contrasting color to crochet the lacy flap. Although not required, feel free to line the finished bag if desired.

Crochet Pattern: Doily Rug

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on March 6th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – 2 Comments

I’ve been wanting to crochet a doily rug for quite some time, but could not decide on the material to crochet it with. Factoring in cost, thickness, and availability, it finally hit me that I can simply use the same yarn that I always crochet with! Medium/worst weight yarn is used in this rug pattern. Medium/worst weight yarn is the most popular weight of yarn there is, and can be found in a variety of colors in any store that sells yarn. To achieve the look of bulky stitches, 3 strands of yarn are held together throughout the entire pattern. In just 22 rounds, you’ll have a rug that will show off your crochet skills and make a statement in your house.
