Snow is one of my favorite things about winter. There’s something so cozy about watching the snow fall outside while you curl up with a blanket and a crochet project. It doesn’t snow much where I live, though, so this little snowflake is my solution. They’re perfect for a gift topper, hair clip, or strung together in a garland. With only 2 rounds, you can make a pile of them in a few hours…and these snowflakes won’t give you frostbite.

Beret’s are very simple and versatile hats to crochet. They are created with simple intervals of increases, decreases and working even. Use a smaller hook for a stiffer hat or a larger hook for a slouchy hat. Or you can always crochet less in the beginning circle to create a smaller hat, or more to create a wider hat. Leave it as is for a casual addition to your wardrobe, or attach a pom-pom for a more traditional look.

When I first got into crocheting many years ago, fingerless gloves were my favorite to crochet. I made many versions for different people, as well as for myself, and played around with length and style. I remembered a pair that I made that were short and simple and decided to design another “short and simple” pair with a few techniques to make them look more advanced, like adding a cuff and reverse crochet trim.

These gloves really are surprisingly simple to crochet. And they don’t take a lot of yarn either! Make yourself some over a weekend or make up a handful to give as gifts this Christmas.

Did you catch the Southwestern Cinch Cowl crochet pattern posted here a few days ago? Well, here’s a hat to go along with it — the Southwestern Beanie!

There is really nothing complicated about this beanie at all. The ribbing for the band is simple single crochets worked in the back loops only, and the body also is single crocheted. And though the striping might look complicated, all it is is beefed up single crochets! Yep, just like the Southwestern Cinch Cowl, the texture is created by working a single crochet puff, which means you just tack on a few more loops when making a regular single crochet.

Looking for a project with bold color? I’ve long been inspired by Mexican blankets with their bold color and geometric prints, and finally I found a chance to incorporate this beauty into a project with my Southwestern Cinch Cowl.

It is officially Autumn and I am just itching to start crocheting hats and scarves! Some of my favorite hats to crochet are slouch beanies because they fit loosely on the head, and I can’t stand a hat that smooshes my hair down.

With the Gail Slouch Beanie, the fit is just right. (And if you want a different size than suggested, look on down for instructions on how to adjust the size of your beanie). First you will crochet the ribbing in rows and then turn the hat to work the body, which is made of alternating puff stitches. Though the hat may look complicated, it really is quite simple and crochets with ease.
