Are you a keychain collector? It’s funny how many of those things you can collect involuntarily. This is a fun and quirky keychain to crochet with little bits of vibrant color to make it resemble neon. Crochet it by first working two panels and adding ears. The embroidery is very simple and so is the finish. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Free Crochet Pattern: Lilac Puff Cowl

Chunky Puff Cowl at Crochet Spot

Chunky yarns are so much fun to work with. I recently was given a few different colors of Bernat Blanket yarn, a yarn that I had not had the pleasure of using yet and was dying to get my hands on. I had to give it some thought before I could decide what to do with it — you know it has to be just perfect. I chose to design a simple cowl and let this lovely lilac yarn be the main feature.

Though it is still blazing summer here, I imagine I am hastening fall by designing a chunky cowl. Want to give it a try? The cowl is very easy to make. Puffs are essentially a cluster of hdc, and you can have as many hdc in one cluster as you can manage. However, since the yarn is so bulky, a 2 hdc puff is adequate for this project.

Take a little piece of crochet with you wherever you go! Crochet this classic granny square in a miniature form and attach it to your keys. Use scraps of yarn for this tiny project. The pattern uses #1 super fine weight yarn / sock yarn / size 3 crochet thread, but if you don’t have something that thin, feel free to use whatever you have on hand. If using a different weight of yarn, the size of the square will be different, and that’s perfectly okay!

[Updated September 6, 2018]

With summer comes pleasant thoughts of the beach — sandy shores, waves lapping against the shore. I wanted to emulate that feeling with this tablet cover by using stripes of aqua, tan, and cream.

The first few rows are worked in single crochet before beginning a textured pattern of single crochet and double crochet. It is a very easy pattern and works up quickly! Add a bamboo toggle with natural cord for just the right beachside touch.

Free Crochet Pattern: Crinkle Cat Toy

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on May 23rd, 2018 by Amy Yarbrough – 2 Comments

Have you ever thought of making your own cat toys? We make everything else, right? So why not cat toys? What I wanted with this toy was something easy to make with the same elements that attract cats featured in store bought toys, such as the crinkly sound and catnip smell.

For this project you will fill the toy with a crinkly material, like parchment paper or cellophane paper, (one person even used a foil emergency blanket), and you can also add some catnip before closing it up. The pattern itself is very simple and works up quickly!

The flower is crocheted in only two quick rounds, then a button is sewn or glued to the center to give it a finished look. Alternatively, you can crochet the first round in one color and the second round in a contrasting color if you wish to not use the button.
