Crochet Pattern: Lovely Heart Motif

By Amy Yarbrough – 8 Comments
Here’s a fun motif perfect for three colors. Choose some from the same palette or make them contrasting, like I have. Use them for a blanket or anything else that begs a motif. Starting with a Lovely Little Heart from my last pattern, create a lacy form around it, and finish off with double crochet fans. Lovely Heart Motif

  1. could you make coasters out of theis pattern??

    • Hi Jackie,
Depending upon the size you wish your coaster to be I can give you three different options.
One, you could simply use a smaller hook which will make the motif smaller; two, you could eliminate round 3 (though I haven’t tried it); or three, you could just make it as is for a superb mug coaster.
      I hope this is helpful!

This is a really pretty square. It was easy to do once I accomplished the adjustable magic ring. I had never tried one before. In the end I completed some very nice squares.

No matter how many times I have done Row 2, I always end up with 12-13 loops. Where are the corners at ??

  4. Tina says:

The defining row is the last one,and when you concentrate on the many repeats and not get lost, like I did, then it is a simple challenge to make. I am making a baby blanket, with the hearts being either yellow, hot pink, magenta, or pale pink or sea green, and then the following rounds are white. Instead of a hanging ch-3, I slip-stitched into it, then simply skipped it in the final row. A wonderful square and one that works up prettily, too. Thank you, Amy for this ! Delighful, challenging and pretty. Love it !!!

This pattern uses simple stitches, but requires alot of counting to get it just right. I am a beginner who taught myself from YouTube videos. ๐Ÿ™‚ anyway, when I got finished my heart was not on center straight up with the “square”. Seems am off by a chain space. The last 5 dc’s together are not right above the indent of the heart. Are there 3 rows with color b? Seems if I had only made 2 that it would be centered.
I was glad to find this pattern! It is so cute! I love hearts! Thanks!

  6. Hi Kelli,
I can’t tell you what you might have done wrong since I can’t see your project, but I will recommend you go over it a few more times to see where the problem is.
Rounds 1-3 is made with color B, while rounds 4-5 is made with color C.
    I hope this has helped!

  7. Kelli says:

I figured it out. I made 4 rows with color b. I forgot to count the row that goes into the edge of the heart. I made 3 rows of “loops”. Oh well! My 6 yr old daughter who loves hearts more than I do, won’t let me fix it. She says it’s beautiful the way it is!! Lol.
