Crochet Pattern: Shelly Mesh Plarn Bag

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on April 2nd, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

Recycle your plastic grocery bags by cutting and tying them into plarn (plastic yarn) and crocheting a brand new tote bag! This pattern uses about 50 average sized grocery bags. The pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up, including the handles, with no sewing required. The stitch pattern is solid on the very bottom of the bag and changes to a shell stitch mesh pattern for the body. The plarn material is sturdy and does not stretch like traditional yarn, making it perfect for crochet bags.

Crochet Pattern: Dusting Mitt

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on March 19th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – 3 Comments

Ditch those expensive, disposable dusters! Go green and environmentally friendly, by crocheting your very own dusting mitt that can be reused over and over again. Choose an inexpensive, machine washable yarn. Acrylic and cotton yarns both work well to attract and hold dust. The pattern uses a special loopy stitch (photo tutorial included) to create fibers that will get into small crevices and corners. Once it’s dirty and full of dust, shake off the large clumps of dust over a trash can and then toss the mitt into the washing machine. Crochet a few dust mittens so that you always have a clean one to use.

Crochet Pattern: Subtle Chevron Keyhole Scarf

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on March 12th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

I love keyhole scarves! They use less yarn compared to traditional scarves and are easier to wear. Simply wrap the scarf around your neck and pull it through the keyhole on the other side. This keyhole scarf uses a subtle, faint chevron pattern that is visible when crocheted with one color. Of course you can change colors while crocheting to create bold, not so subtle, chevron stripes too.
