Do All Crocheters Have Cats?

By Rachel Choi – 255 Comments
I always thought that the correlation between crocheters and cats was just a myth, until I started to realize that a lot of my crochet friends have cats. Even I have a cat!

Is it just a coincide or do most crocheters have a cat? Maybe cats are just popular to have as a pet. Or perhaps, crocheters are more fond of a cat companion since they both like yarn.

Let’s have an experiment to find out once and for all if there really is a correlation between cats and crocheters! This is by far, not a real scientific experiment, but will sure be fun to take part in.

So the question is, are you a crocheter? And do you have a cat? Leave a comment to share!

I’ve been crocheting since I was 4, and now have a cat of soon to be 4 years, got her as a kitten and as long as I can remember she’s loved to come and play with the yarn I working with and loves to run off with the finished parts of my unfinished crochet projects. I don’t know how many pieces I’ve found on top of the kitchen cupboards.

I’ve been crocheting since I was in my early teens and have always had cats around. We currently have two male tabby cats who love to steal my yarn whenever they can or sleep on current projects or things I’ve made.

I guess I’m the exception that makes the rule. I’ve been an avid crocheter since I was young into my mid 20s, then took a break from crochet, during which time, I had a cat. It was only after he passed away, that I picked up my hook and yarn again.

I love to crochet! I make all kinds of things. However, I do not enjoy cats. I prefer dogs…small furry ones are my favorite. I also knit things, too.
