I may sound a little giddy, but I don’t mind admitting that I do feel quite enthusiastic about crocheted totes. They’re so useful and so easy to make! I love a quick project and a good tote is definitely worth the return on investment.

This table runner featuring an open edging is versatile and fun to make. It looks good on both its right and wrong sides and can be used with many different table settings. The pattern is written for a more intimate setup but can be adjusted to fit tables of varying widths and lengths, by making the runner as long as desired.

I’ve designed quite a few patterns using granny squares because I like how simple and easy they are to make. It’s easy to create something remarkable by using granny squares as a base. But it’s not the only easy motif to choose from.

Table runners are great pieces for spicing up the tables in your home. Here’s one made with motifs so that the length, and width, are customizable. Simply add more flowers to lengthen and widen the runner, or make less for a smaller piece. Each floral motif is lightweight and easy to make. Once you’ve made as many as you wish, stitch them together for a handmade conversation piece perfect for summer days and lemonade!

In some ways, the Tunisian bar stitch is like the Tunisian full stitch (tfs). As with the tfs, it has a natural bias, so crocheters should be prepared to use it with other stitches and block the finished object. It is also worked in much the same manner as the tfs, except the hook is inserted into the horizontal bar. However, the tbs is lighter than the tfs, making it a better choice for accessories and apparel.

What’s not to love, right? I bet a few of you are wondering if you even have an LYS and what it might be. Well, an LYS is a Local Yarn Store. An LYS can also be a crocheter’s best friend.

In my last post, I talked a bit about my impromptu yarn crawl. Well, it was tons of fun, and that is partly because I was able to really get to know some local yarn stores. Isn’t it great that we have so many sources for yarn? As yarn crafters we are so lucky! We can shop everywhere from big box stores, to specialty stores, to yard sales and even at Goodwill!
