Crochet Pattern: Granny Triangle Scarf

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on September 18th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

Here is a scarf that is perfect for the fall and autumn weather. The granny square inspired stitch pattern gives it a rustic look. Crochet it in autumn colors to match the season or your favorite colors to complement any outfit. The triangle shape is perfect for giving an outfit dimension and also filling in the neck area on V-neck coats. The pattern is crocheted from the top down, so that you can easily add more rows to adjust the size of the scarf. Make it as big as you want, big enough to wear as a shawl if you wish.

Free Advertising for Crocheters Who Sell Their Work

Posted in News on September 8th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

A while ago I made a directory of crocheters who sell finished crochet items that are made from Crochet Spot patterns. Often times, I have non-crocheters that ask me to purchase a finished item, but since I spend a large amount of time pattern designing, I’m not able to make a lot of finished crocheted items to sell. This free directory has been very helpful in connecting buyers with sellers. So if you’ve crocheted a few Crochet Spot patterns in the past, and are actively selling items made from Crochet Spot patterns, please let me know so that I can add you to the directory. What’s better than free advertising for your personal business?

If you are a crocheter and would like to be added to this free directory, please email [email protected] and include the following information:

  • Your full name and business name (if you have one)
  • Link to your online shop (Etsy shop, personal website, Facebook page, etc.) so that folks can see your work
  • Email address, which will appear publicly in the directory
  • List the CrochetSpot.com patterns (exact names) that you enjoy crocheting the most and/or the patterns you make to sell.
  • 2 – 3 sentences about yourself and/or your crochet work, to be displayed with your information
  • Please be sure to provide all information as incomplete submissions will not be published in the directory.

Feel free to check out the directory here: Crocheters For Hire

How to Crochet a Wire Bracelet

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns, Tutorials and Help on September 6th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

If you’ve been following along recently on the blog, you’ve come across a few beginner level wire jewelry crochet patterns: Circle Wire Earrings and Wire Fashion Ring. In this post, I have a video that demonstrates a bracelet being crocheting. Hopefully this video will help those that are having trouble working with wire.

As usual, the crochet pattern itself is super easy, but the tricky part is getting used to crocheting with wire. The pattern used is simply a few rows of single crochet stitches. 30 gauge wire is used to crochet the bracelet, which is softer and easier to work with compared to my previous patterns. The softer wire, also works wells to create a flexible bracelet.

The video below, by Beaducation, will walk you through crocheting a practice swatch with regular yarn, to crocheting the wire bracelet from beginning to end. It is a long video that is very detailed, so feel free to skip around if it is too slow for you, or pause it every now and then if you are crocheting along.

I’m a huge fan of Beaducation (with no affiliation), and love their tutorials and supplies for jewelry making! What do you think of this video? Did you enjoy crocheting jewelry?

Crochet Pattern: Chunky Lacy Chevron Afghan

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on September 3rd, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

Thickness, lace, and chevrons all in one afghan? Yes, you read that right! It might sound like an odd combination, but it truly works to create a warm, modern, fashionable afghan. Use it as a blanket or even wrap it around you like a shawl. Using one of my all time favorite stitch patterns, this afghan is crocheted from the bottom up in one solid color, although you are welcomed to change colors if you prefer. The pattern creates a chevron pattern by alternating solid and lacy rows. Using a super bulky weight yarn and a large crochet look, the afghan will probably be one of the fastest you’ve ever crocheted.
