Best and Worst Crochet Hooks

Posted in Fun Ramblings on November 29th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – 30 Comments

Previously we discussed the best and worst yarn brands. Now let’s talk about the best and worst crochet hooks. Choosing a crochet hook brand can be as easy as buying whatever is on sale, or as difficult as testing them all out to see what doesn’t hurt your hand or snag and split your yarn. What is your favorite crochet hook brand? Do you prefer metal, plastic, bamboo, or wood crochet hooks? Are there crochet hooks that you refuse to use?

Crochet Pattern: Super Chunky Hi-Lo Cowl

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on November 27th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

Here is a cowl with the cozy, fashionable look of chunky yarn but without the uncomfortable bulk that often accompanies it. Designed with a high and a low end, this cowl fits just right around the neck. The high end is tall enough to be worn like a hood, while the low end sits comfortably under the chin. Rotate the cowl and wear the high end in the front and the low end in the back to create a nicely draped, classic cowl but without the bunching in the back.

There are many brands of yarn to choose from when shopping. What brands do you love and can’t live without? What brands do you avoid like the plague? Yarns can range from cheap to expensive, soft to rough, and thick to thin. Some wash easily and nicely, while some do not.

Crochet Pattern: Snowman Toilet Paper Roll Cover

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on November 10th, 2016 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

It’s always a good idea to keep extra rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom, especially when you have guests over. Crochet this cute snowman to cover up a couple of rolls and sit him on the counter or on the back of the toilet. The snowman holds 2 rolls, and when you remove a roll the snowman shrinks/melts and becomes shorter! You can easily adjust the height of the snowman to hold more or less rolls by using the instructions within the pattern.
